Calendars
Connect a calendar and Stenograf reminds you as an online meeting starts, with Join & Listen to open it and start recording in one click. Listen never waits for a calendar, so having none connected costs you nothing.
Three places a calendar can come from
- Google Calendar — the primary calendar of the Google account you sign in with.
- Outlook Calendar — the default calendar of a Microsoft 365, Outlook.com or Exchange account, through Microsoft’s own sign-in. The invitation text is read too, so a Zoom or Meet link written into an Outlook invitation is found.
- Calendar on this Mac — on macOS, every calendar the Calendar app shows that you can edit, whatever account it belongs to: iCloud, Exchange, Google or any CalDAV server. It signs in to nothing; macOS asks for calendar access once. Calendars shared with you read-only, subscriptions and birthdays are left out.
Connect any of them, or all three. A meeting that is on more than one calendar is announced once, and declining it on one silences it on the others. Calendar on this Mac is not offered on Windows.
Connect
Open Settings → Calendars and press Connect on the row you want. Stenograf first says what it will read; nothing opens until you agree.
- Google Calendar and Outlook Calendar sign in in your browser and return to Stenograf by themselves.
- Some organizations have to approve Stenograf before an Outlook calendar can be connected. Stenograf says so; press Cancel, ask your IT administrator, and connect again once it is approved.
- Calendar on this Mac asks macOS for calendar access. macOS asks only once: if you said no, the row offers Open Privacy Settings, and the calendar connects by itself as soon as you turn Stenograf on under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars.
Reminders
As an online meeting starts, a small Stenograf window appears at the top right with Join & Listen and Not now. Nothing opens and nothing is recorded without your click. A recording made during a meeting keeps the meeting’s title, invitation text and attendee names, which later helps Discover find it. Details on an upcoming meeting is where you write agenda notes before the call.
Disconnect
Each calendar disconnects on its own from Settings → Calendars, and signing out of Stenograf disconnects all of them. Google’s authorization is revoked with Google. Microsoft gives a desktop app no way to revoke its permission, so Outlook’s sign-in is deleted from this computer and the permission stays in your Microsoft account until you remove Stenograf there. The Mac’s calendar permission stays in System Settings until you turn it off.
