Moving from Otter.ai

Connect Otter

1. Open Settings → Connected apps → Otter.ai.
2. Choose Connect and complete Otter’s browser sign-in and authorization.
3. Check the status when you return to Stenograf. Choose Import transcripts to request another sync.

Stenograf checks connected sources every fifteen minutes while it runs. The connection uses Otter’s MCP service, which can return transcripts of accessible conversations. Access depends on account permissions and sharing; check Otter’s MCP documentation if an expected conversation is unavailable.

Keep an export if you need an archive

Otter also offers conversation exports. Its export guide describes the formats and available options. Those files can be retained separately; the current Stenograf UI imports Otter transcripts through the connection, not a file picker.

Check your meetings

Open History and check several imported meetings: title, date, speaker labels and the words themselves. Search for a phrase you remember or open Discover from a meeting. Source speaker labels are kept as text; importing a transcript does not enroll anyone’s voice.

Original summaries and other app-specific objects are not a substitute for the transcript. Stenograf can create its own summaries once the local language model is ready. For repeatable analysis, choose a meeting in Workflows.

Finish the move

Check that important meetings have arrived before removing access or cancelling your old plan. Disconnect in Stenograf keeps imported meetings; revoke access in the source account too if you are finished with the connection.

Future meetings

Stenograf records computer audio and your microphone without adding a participant to the call. Review your Otter meeting-agent and calendar settings if you no longer want it joining future meetings. Tell participants and obtain permission before starting any recording.
